HKJC Trophy Goes to Ireland
19th February 2016 Hong Kong
Tonight’s Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy (1.50m) was won by young Irish star Bertram Allen who is this year competing at his first Longines Masters of Hong Kong.

Aboard Quiet Easy 4, Allen went clear in the final round in a slick 36.83 sec defeating Finland’s Anna-Julia Kontio (36.92sec). Allen was thrilled to win the event on a night celebrating the Longines Masters of Hong Kong founding partner the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

“It was great to win tonight especially after being at Happy Valley races on Wednesday night,” said Allen. He also said he was enjoying the show so far and is hoping for continued success over the next few days of competition at AsiaWorld-Expo.

“This is a great show. I have ridden in Paris and LA and it feels very similar to those events.” Allen won the Longines Speed Challenge at the recent Longines Masters of Los Angeles and is regarded as one of the fastest riders in the world.

The UK’s Laura Renwick finished third in tonight’s Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy riding Bintang II.

Many are looking forward to see what he can do in the Longines Speed Challenge on day two of the Longines Masters of Hong Kong tomorrow night at AsiaWorld-Expo.
