Jos grew up around horses. His father Axel runs the trading stable Euro Horse also home to Dutch rider Harrie Smolders. First Jos was more interested in football but after two unsuccessful seasons he preferred to concentrate on riding. A decision he probably does not regret. In 2012 he was fourth individually and second with the team at the Junior European Championships. The year after he already started in the Senior European Championships and at only 18 years old Jos was selected to represent Belgium at the 2014 WEG in Normandie with his horse Domino. He was very unlucky though because he fell the first day of the competition. Nonetheless he is yet another promising young rider for Belgium. In 2014 he won the Longines Masters of Los Angeles with Domino. Last winter, Jos performed with Sunshine on indoor competitions, he finished at the 4th position in two World Cup Grand Prix, and did the same in the 's-Hertogenbosch's one. He aslo got a 2nd place in the LGCT Grand Prix of Mexico.
